Southern Districts Rugby Club announces the retirement of Head Coach Joe Barakat at the conclusion of the 2024 Shute Shield season.

Joe is one of South's Favourite Sons, having played and coached at the club, and around the world, in a stellar career spanning over 30 years.

He stepped up again in 2024 as our Head Coach to reignite the process of restoring the club's core values and strengths, and is ready to hand over the reins in 2025.

Joe will remain closely involved with the club going forward, of which he was the inaugural Club Captain in 1989.

We wish him only the very best in his retirement from full time coaching, and thank him for his services to our club, and to the game of rugby.
